Stone
n 1996, I left a ranch in New Mexico and moved to the coast of Maine. My lifelong fascination with rocks of all types surfaced in an uncontrollable way, and my tools were soon set against the stubborn nature of granite- the foundation of the Downeast region. For me it was a perfect match. In short order my yard had a new look, and the garden area had become a quarry. Only time will tell the effects of having fingers repeatedly crushed between boulders and my eyes filled with stone chips. Most assuredly it is worth it, as each piece provides me with inspiration and challenge alike.
